Hyper Japan 2011

If you have a free day between Friday 22nd July to Sunday 24th July, you should consider going down to Olympia Two at Kensington for Hyper Japan.  

As the name shows, this is all about Japan including cuisine and culture.  Along with this there are many other special events as well such as the UK Cosplay Award 2011 and Sushi Awards 2011.  

Cosplay is big in Japan, no one gives funny looks when someone goes past in Japan cosplaying.  Hyper Japan is the same, this is the opportunity to dress up and allow people to admire you.  If you go dressed up, chances are people will be queueing up to take your picture.

Japan is about cute and cool as well, so you are bound to see a lot of this around, whether its toys or posters or other things.

With so much on show and with it being bigger than last year, it is definitely worth a visit.

The Fun of Instaxs

My Diana F+ got it's back changed recently.  It went from taking 35mm films to Instax minis.  Instax Minis are polaroids but are a mini version of 62mm x 46mm as opposed to the originals at 60mm x 99mm.

With the back changed, who best than to try it on a bunch of colleagues!  Look at how much fun we had, who would have ever imagined?

A Published Article from moi!

Yes I know, I am not really a writer but being a member of the Lomography website I decided to start writing.

On the Lomography site, you get to earn points, called Piggies...don't ask me why they are called them, not sure if the owner of the site had a liking to Pigs, but anyway, one way of earning them is to write articles for their magazine, whether its reviews, lifestyle or in my case I chose to write about a location.  As Sin is a lover of Food, I've chosen to start writing reviews on places to eat.  The first one being Bi Bim Bap Soho.

Ladies at Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea at hotels is becoming a very popular thing in London and not one to fall behind on trends, I really wanted to go and try one out.  Lisa and I had spent 6 hours walking round London on a Photography walk (more on that at a later day) and by the time we got to our Afternoon Tea we were starving!

So we chose the Sanderson Hotel, as the Mad Hatter's Menu caught my eye

Wow what were we in for?

 Lots of detail and attention had gone into this

It was definitely worth trying and we were stuffed afterwards.  The hotel is just off Oxford Circus and does a number of sittings at the weekend, worth a look

Doubles Experiment

Ever heard of multiple exposures?  Well I hadn't really until few months ago when I came across Lomography.  With digital cameras you can't really achieve this however with film its another story.  So multiple exposures is where you can take a picture on top of each other.  You can do a double exposure, or even 3, 4 is probably the max you want to do before the photo becomes complicated.

With some Lomography cameras you won't be able to do this, others you can click away before winding the film on.

One thing you can do is take a picture, turn the camera upside down and take the picture again, like the one above and the one below.

Another option to try is to load a film in one camera, take pictures on the roll, rewind the film, ensuring you don't rewind the full film back into the canister, otherwise it won't work and then load it in another camera and shoot again.  So this is what I did, I loaded the film in a Diana F+, took pictures of London and the loaded the film into a LC-A+ and shot pictures at home.  Some of my results (took me time to figure out what I took!).

The first picture was taken up the tube escalators and the second was a shot of a self reflection.

I'm Back

Yes it has been a while since I have been here, just lots of happened!

So whats new?

Well: -

• New job - am pretty sure I have now covered a number of miles, probably in thousands!
• New porch - post to come later
• Extra weight - no more need to be said!
• Increase in my collection of Nails Inc
• Watched Water for Elephants and have fallen in love with Robert Pattinson all over again.  And it probably isn't right as he is only just celebrating his 25th Birthday now! Feel so old
• New addition to my camera family - the LCA!

Will talk later, the long distance is making me sleepy
