Glossybox - My First Box

Last week on my week off, I was surfing on the net and came across Glossybox.  After bit more reading found out that its similar to Graze, which I signed up to recently.  However instead of foods, its Beauty product samples.  So for £10 a month you get a box sent to your house with 5 samples.  Not bad, I thought.

The first box was half price, so I thought I had nothing to lose really, and considering I can cancel at any time,  it was worth a try.

I received my first box today and it was a Valentines Special, a lovely pink box with goodies!  When opening it, felt like Christmas where theres always a nice surprise and you are eager to find out what it is.

So what 5 things did I get?

Product 1 and 2 - Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream and Extra Firming Day Cream.

I love Clarins products so this was a nice treat.  Normally retails at £48.00 and £46.50 for 50ml respectively, so to get 15ml isn't bad for what I've paid.

Product 3 - Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner in Plum.  Love the colour and went on smoothly.  Retails at £9.50.  So I've saved on this product alone!

Product 4 - FAB Gentle Body Wash - Its for sensitive skin and fragrance free.  Not something I would normally buy.

Product 5- Murad - Hybrids Skin Perfecting primer - this can be used under the foundation.  I've never used primer but have always been curious so will definitely give it a go.

So at half the price, the products I got were definitely worth it.  I guess there is always a risk of receiving things that you don't want, but hey you can always give them to someone else or join a site that does swaps.  I love the surprise factor with this so definitely will keep my subscription for now

Afternoon Tea at the Hyatt Regency London

We managed to spend the afternoon at the Hyatt Regency London the other day and had Afternoon Tea.  Definitely a place I would recommend.  They had the Montagu Afternoon Tea which is like a Traditional Afternoon Tea.  The other one they have is the Sex And the City one which Sin and I opted for.

The savoury snacks are inspired by the city of New York and included: -
  • Pastrami on rye
  • New York Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese
  • Mini burgers named after Jack Berger
  • Mini New York hot dogs
The sweet selection have been created with each of the girls in mind from SATC
  • Strawberry flavoured chocolate pink stiletto - Carrie
  • Pink strawberry cupcake - Charlotte
  • Appletini jelly in a mini martini glass - Samantha
  • Glazed doughnuts - Miranda
We also got a glass of champagne to start with.  Excellent service and money well spent.  If you are a SATC fan, you should try it.

Deco Den - Japanese Art

Ever since I saw deco den products in Hong Kong and Japan, I had fallen in love with deco den.

So what is deco den, after all if you go into Hobby Craft or a similar craft store in the UK they would have no clue.  Deco Den is short for decoration denwa, denwa meaning phone.  Its the japanese art of gluing a bunch or adorable 3D stuff to your cell phone.  However it doesn't need to stop there, it could be a mirror, a case, camera, jars, to be honest anything that you can stick stuff to and on.

Last year in Hong Kong I came across a shop that sold the tools for deco den, so I decided to buy!  It wasn't until yesterday that I decided to do a bit of craft.

I chose to do a little mirror, so very straight forward, just squirt the silicone onto the surface and then using a cocktail stick swirl the silicone around to give the effect!

After that all you need to do is add your deco pieces

My finish pieces.

New phone cover from Crystalise Boutique

I came across Crystalise Boutique several weeks ago and immediately fell in love with her products!

Sparkly and bling are the two words that springs to mind with Crystalise Boutique.  She specialises in creating bespoke products that include phone cases, mirror cases, jewellery and much more.

I finally decided on the iphone case I wanted, after a long long debate as I liked so much!  My case finally arrived today, after a week, this was much quicker than I expected as each case is handmade and not a mass production.  I love it, and was worth the money I spent!  I'm so glad I bought it.

No one cover is the same.  Crystalise Boutique will do their best to tailor to your needs, so if there isn't something that suits you can always ask.

Find Crystalise Boutique on Twitter https://twitter.com/#!/Crystalise_Btq

You won't be disappointed

How to make towel cupcakes

Normally I make edible cupcakes, however I haven't made them in over a year.  Today I decided to make some cupcakes out of facetowels.  I was taught this in Hong Kong a few years back, I had all the tools for it but just didn't have time.

So bits you will need: -

  • Two square face towels, white and another colour
  • Cupcake case
  • small size pom poms
  • clear carrier pouch

Step 1: - Fold the face towels separately in half and half again

Step 2: - Place the white towel over the other towel, the white towel to slightly overhang the other one

Step 3: Roll the white towel in so that it flushes up against the other towel

Step 4: - Roll both towels in

Step 5: - Place in cupcake case, place pom pom on top.  All done!
