Afternoon Tea at the Hyatt Regency London

We managed to spend the afternoon at the Hyatt Regency London the other day and had Afternoon Tea.  Definitely a place I would recommend.  They had the Montagu Afternoon Tea which is like a Traditional Afternoon Tea.  The other one they have is the Sex And the City one which Sin and I opted for.

The savoury snacks are inspired by the city of New York and included: -
  • Pastrami on rye
  • New York Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese
  • Mini burgers named after Jack Berger
  • Mini New York hot dogs
The sweet selection have been created with each of the girls in mind from SATC
  • Strawberry flavoured chocolate pink stiletto - Carrie
  • Pink strawberry cupcake - Charlotte
  • Appletini jelly in a mini martini glass - Samantha
  • Glazed doughnuts - Miranda
We also got a glass of champagne to start with.  Excellent service and money well spent.  If you are a SATC fan, you should try it.

Time to lose some weight!

The other day I was about to get into my mum's car, what greeted me then took me by utter surprise.  On my seat was a booklet 'The Ultimate Weight Loss Plan'.  Great!  My mum trying to tell me something.  My mum has been telling me for a year how much weight I've put on.  However what was the biggest surprise, was that the person who put the booklet on my seat was not my mum but my dad!!  For my dad to say anything means its serious.  I have ballooned since I've been married!

So I finally signed up to Graze, healthy snacks by post is one of their phrases.  Whats great with Graze is that you get a selection box of 4 snacks and you have a say with the snacks, by choosing what you like out of 100 + selection.  Its £3.49 for a box of 4 and you can choose how often you want it delivered and when! Easy!

As you can probably see I couldn't completely say no to chocolate!

My weight losing plan has started today, no more cooked breakfasts or pastries, yoghurts and fruit all the way!  So if anyone sees me eating something I shouldn't, like my husband, call me 'piggy'!  I can take it!

xoxo

PS If anyone wants to try out a free box from Graze, let me know as I have a code for you, you can use

Sushi the way forward

I thought I would do a recommendation today and I thought it ties in nicely to the new year still as after all eating sushi is a very good diet.  Apart from sumo wrestlers how many overweight Japanese people are there?  Very small amount, green tea and sushi.  My favourites!

So I thought I would tempt you firstly with what I had the other day! Wow!

So the place to go is Eat Tokyo in Soho.  We only came across this back in September time and we've been around 6 times since!  There is always a queue and the queue normally consists of Japanese people which lets you know that this place is good!

If raw fish isn't your thing, don't worry as theres much more on the menu which will definitely get your mouth watering.

And look what we got as little gifts from them!

Garden Treasures

Last year I started to plant a number of things in the garden and we managed to harvest a number of courgettes and then a number of small, tiny parsnips!

This year I decided just to focus on strawberries, and look how they are turning out...

Not edible yet, so have resorted to M&S instead!  Both at half price! yum yum!

Ladies at Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea at hotels is becoming a very popular thing in London and not one to fall behind on trends, I really wanted to go and try one out.  Lisa and I had spent 6 hours walking round London on a Photography walk (more on that at a later day) and by the time we got to our Afternoon Tea we were starving!

So we chose the Sanderson Hotel, as the Mad Hatter's Menu caught my eye

Wow what were we in for?

Lots of detail and attention had gone into this

It was definitely worth trying and we were stuffed afterwards.  The hotel is just off Oxford Circus and does a number of sittings at the weekend, worth a look

I Love You Mum

For us in the UK, its Mothers Day. Mothers Day is celebrated on different days around the world.

This day may have emerged from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece.  In Europe there were several long standing traditions where a specific Sunday was set aside to honour motherhood and mothers
In the UK and Ireland, this day is the 4th Sunday in Lent.  For countries like Hong Kong and USA, its tje second Sunday of May.

So I decided to invite my family around to mine for dinner.  M&S Dine In for £15, yum yum.  As it was probably going to be busy at all the restaurants today, I thought that would be the best option.  We can always go to dinner another time.

Yes we got all that for £15!

Sin decided to get mum some sushi as well as she loves that, a bit weird to go with the roast, but remember us Chinese likes to eat weird and wonderful things. See

Thank you mum for everything! I love you

The Weird and the Wonderful

At first I wanted to just blog about my dinner and what I made for myself and Sin, but instead I want to share what we lovely Chinese eat, as my dinner can definitely be said to be weird and wonderful!

Firstly my dinner.......ready.....ok lets go...................or maybe lets have a look at the ingredients first........

Yes, you see right, one of the ingredients was Coke!  My dish today was Coke Chicken!  Yes you read that right, Coke Chicken and it was yummy!

(Fry the onions, then fry chicken for a few minutes, then pour in 500ml of Coke and cook for 30 minutes - Lomo Lomo Application with Diana on iphone 4)

Heres the final result

So thats just one dish, here are a few other things we eat but I'm sure many would find weird.

(Almond drink, nice hot or cold, toast with peanut butter and condensed milk, lychee and mango fruit pastilles, green tea chocolate - pictures were taken with Lomo Lomo Application but created into this collage by PhotoShake - application on iphone 4)

(Hot green tea milk with taro (delicious), mango ice with mango, green tea Macau tart, big thick toast with lots of ice cream)

In HK theres more of this and its definitely one reason why I miss it so much and why I put on so much weight when I go back!

And finally my Hello Kitty pic of the day (forgot to post one yesterday)

(Hello Kitty Chupa Chups with a free charm!)

Shrove Tuesday + 1 day = Ash Wednesday

So yesterday was Shrove Tuesday or for many people like me see it as Pancake Day.  (Did you know it was called Fat Tuesday????)

So why is it called Pancake Day?  After doing research on my favourite site Wikipedia, I found that making and eating such foods (Pancakes) was considered a last feast with ingredients such as sugar, fat and eggs, whose consumption was traditionally restricted during the ritual fasting associated with Lent.

One thing I didn't know was when Pancake Day was....Wiki has taught me something new!  Its in the seventh week before Easter, it can be as early as 3rd February or as late as the 9th March.   So a date for your diaries next year is 21st February.

So how did I celebrate? Well with Carte D'Or and Baileys Cream...yum yum, move over 'My Old Dutch', as the YY menu is on its way!!!

I hope you all had a lovely Pancake day and didn't have to give up too much for lent!

Xoxo
